Biographie / Biography:

Certifed Montreal Academy of Music Teacher since 2018.

We are so very proud of having Sarah join our team! An incredible musician and teacher, Sarah comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in music.

Sarah is a first year Masters student in music performance at the Schulich School of
Music of McGill University, where she studies under Carolyn Christie (Montreal Symphony
Orchestra, Second Flute (ret.)). Sarah holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance with honours
from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, where she studied under Nora Shulman
(Toronto Symphony Orchestra, (ret.)).

Sarah is an active and accomplished performer in the Canadian music scene. An experienced orchestral musician, she is currently a member of the McGill Symphony Orchestra, and she has performed in orchestras in Toronto, Hamilton and Vancouver. As a chamber musician Sarah freelances across the Toronto area as a soloist and with her flute and harp duo, and she was recently hired to perform in the Ottawa Chamberfest’s New Music Now festival; Canada’s prestigious professional chamber music festival.
Sarah has a passion for teaching and helping others to discover the joy that she has found in music. Specializing in classical music ranging from the Baroque era to contemporary repertoire and extended techniques, Sarah teaches beginner to advanced flutists, and beginner to intermediate pianists, of all ages. Well-acquainted with Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) system of music training, she teaches an integrated curriculum encompassing repertoire spanning all musical genres, etudes, aural training, sight reading, technique, theory and history to develop well-rounded musicians with high-calibre musical literacy and skills. Trained in Dalcroze Eurythmics, Sarah aims to awaken and develop musicality in young students through fun and engaging activities that incorporate rhythmic movement, ear-training and improvisation.
She is committed to helping students achieve their personal goals, while fostering an enjoyment
of and appreciation for classical music. Through a kind and nurturing approach to teaching,
Sarah establishes a supportive relationship in which she promotes and reinforces her students’
self-confidence and natural creativity. Sarah strives to inspire and encourage her students to
achieve their musical aspirations, whether they play for personal enjoyment, are working towards
an exam or performance, or aspire to win an orchestral or university audition.
